Achievements:
Due to the initiatives of the District Food Controller, Faridpur in collaboration with the Food Directorate, the supply and market price of foodgrains in the market was stable during the said period. A total of 22.73 thousand tons of rice has been collected in Faridpur district from internal sources in the last 3 years. Besides, about 79.85 thousand tons of food grains (rice and wheat) have been distributed to various sectors including social development sector. In the past 3 financial years, 8.24 thousand metric tons of rice and 8.66 thousand metric tons of wheat have been purchased directly from the farmers and the price of rice and wheat has been paid to the farmer's bank account in order to provide incentives to the farmers at a higher rate. Honorable Prime Minister's Priority Food Friendly Program has been adopted to provide food assistance to poor people at low cost. Through this program, about 88 thousand families in the district are being supplied with 30 kg of rice at the rate of only 10 taka per kg or 15 taka per month for 5 months of the year. The current effective capacity of government food warehouse of Faridpur district is 15 thousand MT.
